Climate-resilient fisheries for fish farming
Aquaculture contributes to food, nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, and the income of farming communities and other connected groups. It is a significant part of Bangladesh’s economy. Aquaculture has a wealth of advantages, but recently in Bangladesh there has been concern about it due to a number of climatic concerns with fish production.
Climate change could have an undetermined impact on the operation of hatcheries, the care of young fish, and grow-out output, which puts fish farming at danger. These factors have a negative influence on the marginal community’s interest in fish breeding in the family ponds; instead, they choose to keep it empty. Taking into account the fact that fishing measures for climate resilience have been implemented in the ponds that have been swamped by floods. In order to meet the family’s nutritional needs and generate additional money, the intervention aims to culture fish in flooded ponds, ensure the availability and access to natural fish in private ponds, and provide for these needs.
